Established in the fall of 2021, Tech My School was derived from a need to serve the island’s most valuable asset, its youth. After visiting a number of schools across the island of Puerto Rico, it became apparent that many institutions were not completely current with 21st century practices in comparison to schools on the mainland of United States or other leading countries. Once inquired, it became evident that these schools were under unflinching budget restraints or other dilemmas. Unable to better themselves in their current financial situations, they needed support. Wanting to do more than just donate, TMS was formed in order to not only raise money for schools across Puerto Rico, but to spend the time training and instilling best practice with the staff. To ensure a lasting impact, Tech My School leverages technology in order to bolster three primary facets of education: improving the educational systems in which the school operates, building the capacity of the staff through various professional developments so they may better facilitate technology, and most importantly, empowering the students at these schools. The primary goal of Tech My School is to ensure every student in Puerto Rico is given an education that is both rigorous and contemporary. We want to ensure students are fluent with the most impactful next generational skills and schools become primary hubs of this learning and facilitation. Tech My School has adopted the Puerto Rican Green Parrot as its mascot and symbol because it represents intelligence, hope, and a commitment to the locals of the island.
