Our Story
Our story shares common ground with all great nonprofits: a mission to serve our community, an unyielding call to action, and a significant problem worth solving. Tech My School was founded on the belief that every student deserves a world-class education, regardless of location, language, or country. By maximizing the use of technology, Tech My School empowers schools to equip their students with essential 21st-century skills.
Before Tech My School was born in 2021, its founders, Robert and Irina Cobbs, had spent the past twenty years working in schools around the world. They served students across four continents and in every financial demographic imaginable. What started as the couple's first-ever sabbatical quickly developed into the multifaceted organization that exists today.

Tech My School's ethos is simple: help schools provide a world-class education for students by better leveraging technology. This is done by creating comprehensive plans, upskilling the adults in the building, and ensuring students receive a standards-based 21st-century skill set that will prepare them for an ever-developing future.
What sets us apart from other EdTech companies is our true nonprofit status. The majority of our funding comes from generous donors and partners. All proceeds from Tech My School are used to serve the lowest-income schools in America at no financial cost to them. In a short amount of time, we have donated over $1 million worth of goods and services to schools in Puerto Rico and across the country.

Tech My School was derived from a need to serve Puerto Rico's most valuable asset: its youth. After visiting numerous schools across the island, it became apparent that many institutions lagged behind 21st-century practices compared to mainland United States or leading countries worldwide. Upon inquiry, it emerged that these schools faced unrelenting budget constraints and other dilemmas. Unable to improve on their own due to financial situations, they needed support. Wanting to do more than just donate, Tech My School was formed to raise funds for schools across Puerto Rico while also investing time in training staff and instilling best practices.

Tech My School's primary mission is to ensure every student receives an education that is both rigorous and contemporary. We aim to equip students with the most impactful next-generation skills and make schools primary hubs of learning and facilitation. Tech My School has adopted the Puerto Rican Green Parrot as its mascot and symbol, representing intelligence, hope, and commitment to the island's local students.
